Willmott Dixon is preparing to start the £24m second phase of the Kingshurst Village Centre regeneration in Solihull after council chiefs approved the funding package to push the scheme into construction.
Work is expected to begin before the end of the year. The phase covers a 28,000 sq ft community, health and retail building alongside six homes, a new vicarage and road and parking improvements.
The centrepiece building will bring GP services, a dentist, pharmacy and opticians under one roof. It will also house a library, community space, café and a Co-op store.
Solihull Council has secured £8m from the West Midlands Combined Authority. The balance of the £24m comes from council investment and other funding sources.
Willmott Dixon completed the first 25 affordable homes under phase one in 2024 and was subsequently appointed to design the second phase.
The wider regeneration replaces Kingshurst's ageing precinct-style shopping centre. Improvements to Kingshurst Park have already been delivered.
With funding approved and a start on site scheduled before the year's end, the project moves from design to delivery, extending Willmott Dixon's role in one of Solihull's most significant town centre rebuilds.
