Stephen Teagle, chief executive of partnerships and regeneration at Vistry, will retire at the end of March 2027 after two decades building the housebuilder's mixed-tenure partnerships business.

Catherine Raynsford joins Vistry on 1 January as group partnerships director to begin a three-month handover. She is currently managing director of stock acquisitions at L&G Affordable Homes and will assume Teagle's full remit once he steps down.

Teagle joined Galliford Try in 2006 after 20 years in the housing association sector. He helped construct Vistry's partnerships model and will stay on with the company part-time as a board adviser after his March 2027 departure.

Who is Catherine Raynsford?

Raynsford leads stock acquisitions at L&G Affordable Homes, one of the UK's largest institutional investors in affordable housing. Before that, she served as investment & partnerships director at The Hyde Group, a London-based housing association.

Her appointment reflects Vistry's continuing focus on relationships with local authorities, housing associations and Homes England. Those counterparties sit at the centre of the partnerships pipeline that Teagle built over the past two decades.

What did Vistry say?

Chief executive Adam Daniels framed Teagle's tenure as foundational to the group's identity: "Stephen has played a fundamental role in the creation and evolution of our partnerships model."

He cast the succession as continuity rather than disruption: "I am delighted that Catherine will be joining us to build on these strong foundations as Vistry enters its next stage. She brings significant experience of the affordable housing sector, a deep understanding of our partners and a strong track record in investment and partnerships."

What does the succession timetable look like?

Raynsford begins on 1 January. She works alongside Teagle for the full first quarter of 2027 before he steps down at the end of March. The handover covers Vistry's next operational cycle.

Teagle will then shift into a part-time advisory role, retaining institutional knowledge as the partnerships business moves under new leadership.

What does the change mean for Vistry?

The changeover ends a 21-year stretch for Teagle that started when he moved from the housing association sector into housebuilding in 2006. Vistry now operates as one of the UK's largest partnerships-focused housebuilders.

Raynsford's affordable housing background gives Vistry a leader fluent in the deal structures and funding streams that drive the partnerships business. Her arrival tests whether the model Teagle built can be scaled by a successor with deeper institutional experience.
