Currey & Co. closed on August 5, 2026, on a 119,000-square-foot building at 4470 Greer Circle in Stone Mountain, Ga. — the wholesale lighting, furniture and home decor resource's first owned headquarters, and its first move in a quarter-century.

The company expects to leave its longtime home on Best Friend Road in mid-to-late 2027. Nearly 25 years in one building, it turns out, was enough adapting.

What does the new building offer?

The five-year-old facility was purpose-built for furniture distribution and formerly housed Georgia Furniture Mart. Its specs read like a warehouse wishlist:

  • 39-ft. clear ceilings
  • A 45,650-sq.-ft. mezzanine
  • A large, secure truck court
  • A covered customer pickup area

The building will hold offices, warehouse, shipping, product development space, a design library and a working corporate showroom. An adjacent pre-graded site allows for roughly 87,000 square feet of future expansion, and part of the land will become an organic community garden. Ownership evidently doesn't preclude vegetables.

Why own rather than lease?

The site sits minutes from Highway 78 and I-285, adding shipping capacity while keeping the company close to its current employee base. Owning the building also fulfills a long-held goal for the second-generation, family-owned firm.

CEO Brownlee Currey framed the purchase as more than a change of address.

"After nearly 25 years at Best Friend Road, I see this move as much more than a change of address," Currey said. "We have the chance to build a workplace around the company we are becoming rather than continuing to adapt a building around the company we used to be. As a family-owned business, having the independence to make that kind of long-term investment is enormously meaningful."

Currey & Co., based in Atlanta, operates permanent showrooms in Atlanta, Dallas, Las Vegas and High Point, N.C. With 87,000 square feet of expansion room banked next door, the company won't need to adapt a building to the company it used to be — or, presumably, the one it becomes next.
